Biography
Background
The stable boy, Daniel and Regina were pursuing a secret relationship which Regina's parents were unaware of. However, when Regina saves a young girl named Snow White, Snow is revealed to be the daughter of King Leopold, who takes her hand in marriage. Now engaged to two people, one of them she is forced into, Regina and Daniel plan on running away together. However, after seeing Regina and Daniel together, Snow White tells Regina's mother Cora, prompting Cora to confront the two of them. In order to make sure Regina marries the king, Cora tears Daniel's heart out and crushes it to dust in front of Regina. After his death, Regina casts a preservation spell on Daniel's corpse, keeping it healthy just in case she finds a way to resurrect Daniel. Regina eventually comes into contact with Viktor Frankenstein, a doctor who is experimenting in bringing back the dead by using the enchanted hearts that are made when a heart is ripped out of someone's chest magically. However, unknown to Regina, Viktor does not perform the procedure on Daniel and pretends that he did, but says that it failed. This is revealed to be part of Rumplestiltskin's plan into making Regina evil so she casts the Dark Curse.
Season 1
In Storybrooke, Regina keeps Daniel's image in an enchanted ring which she finds herself having to sacrifice to the Mad Hatter's hat in order to open a portal to the poisoned apple so she can curse the savior, Emma Swan.
Season 2
In Storybrooke, Viktor wants to go back to his world, so he successfully manages to resurrect Daniel. However, Daniel becomes a violent monster who attacks Regina's adoptive son Henry. When he sees Regina, he reverts back to his normal self for a short while, telling Regina to end his pain and find someone else to love. Not long after, Daniel loses control and goes back to his violent behaviour, forcing Regina to lift the preservation spell.
Season 5
In order to produce a tear of lost love, Regina rewatches Cora killing Daniel through a magic dreamcatcher. In the Underworld, Regina worries about Daniel's whereabouts, but finds out he has already moved onto Olympus.
